Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to join our Overnight Emergency team. You will triage emergencies, assist DVM with estimates, run diagnostics, and help care for patients in ICU and inpatient wards.

The role involves nursing care, medication administration under supervision, radiography, lab work, client communication, and discharge instructions. We offer competitive pay with generous shift differentials and medical benefits.

Qualifications

Experience or interest in emergency veterinary care.
Able to triage and assist DVM with estimates and treatment.
Proficiency with radiographs and basic lab work should be demonstrated.

Responsibilities

Assist with nursing care to patients per hospital standards.
Stock and maintain cleanliness in ER/ICU and designated areas.
Understand medication classifications, side effects and monitor responses.
Administer medications under supervision of an LVT.
Perform radiography and basic lab work.
Conduct physical exams and record vital signs.
Engage with clients by triaging, reviewing estimates and providing discharge instructions.
Follow RECOVER CPR guidelines and perform assigned role as directed.
