BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to join our Overnight Emergency team. The role supports triage, diagnostics, and patient care through ICU and inpatient wards, with emphasis on client communication and discharge planning.

Scheduled as alternating Wednesday through Saturday, the position offers hourly pay with competitive shift differentials. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and professional development support.

Qualifications

• Triage emergency cases and assist DVM with estimates as needed.
• Perform diagnostics including radiographs and lab work.
• Provide nursing care per hospital standards and core values.
• Communicate with clients about discharge instructions and follow-up care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care.
• Stock, clean and maintain ER/ICU areas.
• Understand medication classifications and monitor responses.
• Administer medications under supervision.
• Perform radiography and routine lab work.
• Conduct physical exams and monitor vital signs.
• Engage with clients on triage, estimates, and discharge instructions.
• Remain current on CPR guidelines and hospital protocols.
