Job summary

VEG ER for Pets is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to diagnose and treat emergency cases, including exotics, in a fast-paced, mentorship-focused hospital. You will manage urgent cases, perform surgeries and endoscopy, and contribute to a supportive team environment.

The role emphasizes learning, client communication, and ongoing professional development with VEG Education programs and CE opportunities. Night, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as needed within a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree is required.
• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including surgeries and endoscopy.
• Thrive in team-oriented environments and fast-paced settings.
• Able to stand for long hours, lift up to 25 kg, and assist with up to 40 kg.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Comfortable in a noisy, odor-filled hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients right away as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes approach.
• Record signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam findings.
• Perform physical exams and required diagnostics (ultrasound, X-ray, bloodwork, biopsies).
• Develop a diagnostic and therapeutic plan and communicate options to clients.
• Prepare and present treatment estimates to clients.
• Maintain accurate medical records and review tests and results.
• Perform emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures as needed.
• Educate clients on aftercare and preventative measures.
