Job summary

VEG is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to deliver urgent care for diverse cases, including exotics, with a focus on teamwork and ongoing education. You will lead on the hospital floor, perform surgeries and endoscopy, and guide clients through treatment options.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree is required.
• Emergency medicine focus with surgery and endoscopy experience.
• Able to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 kg alone and 40 kg with assistance.
• Willing to work nights, weekends and holidays on rotating shifts.
• thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients immediately as part of VEG triage and patient flow.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals and exam findings.
• Perform physical exams, imaging, bloodwork and biopsies as required.
• Develop diagnostic and treatment plans and communicate with clients.
• Prepare and present cost estimates to clients.
• Maintain and review medical records for accuracy.
• Explain tests and treatments to customers, address concerns.
• Perform minor and major emergency surgeries.
• Perform endoscopic procedures.
• Educate clients on aftercare and preventive measures.
