Job summary

VEG for Pets is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join our open-concept hospitals providing 24/7 care for cats, dogs, and exotics. You will lead in emergency cases, work within a mentorship-focused team, and contribute to VEG Education programs and CE opportunities.

You will handle a wide range of emergencies, perform surgeries and endoscopic procedures, and guide clients through diagnoses, treatment options, and aftercare. A strong people-centric approach is essential.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree is required.
• Must have passion for emergency medicine including emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Ability to stand for long periods, kneel, lift up to 25 kg, and work in a busy hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone and through client communication.
• See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes process.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam.
• Conduct exams and diagnostics (ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, biopsies).
• Create diagnoses and therapeutic plans; present options to clients.
• Prepare and present cost estimates to clients.
• Create and review medical records for accuracy and compliance.
• Perform minor and major emergency surgeries and endoscopy.
• Educate clients on aftercare and prevention.
