Job summary

VEG is seeking an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line emergency team. You’ll triage, treat, and monitor a wide range of emergencies, collaborating closely with doctors and staff to deliver high-quality care for pets and their owners.

You will work nights, weekends, and holidays, bringing compassionate communication, technical proficiency, and a calm, resilient presence to a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA-accredited program preferred
• Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located is required; VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia a plus
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; experience in emergency or specialty medicine preferred
• Basic computer skills and experience with practice management software and electronic medical records
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; ability to support teammates
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours and lift up to 25 kg; able to work in a noisy environment with strong odors
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis as hospital needs
• Works well with diverse teams and fast-paced environments

Responsibilities

• Triage and provide nursing care for emergency cases
• Deliver treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing
• Support doctors and team with care plans and discharge processes
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses
• Perform CP R and other emergency procedures as trained
• Assist with diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tube placements
• Utilize advanced techniques and equipment as needed (central lines, endoscopy, ultrasounds)
• Support pet parents with compassionate communication during stressful moments
