Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in Minnesota is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ER team. From day one you’ll support the team, comfort pet parents, and learn the ropes in real time, covering triage, treatments, and patient care in a high-energy environment.

You’ll work alongside credentialed technicians and veterinarians, assisting with anesthesia, diagnostics, and critical care. This role offers growth through guided training pathways and the opportunity to become

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus)
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team
• Ability to lift up to 25 kg and work in a noisy environment
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming patients and guide them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation; assist with IV fluids and meds.
• Support during outpatient and inpatient care; participate in rounds.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER training (training provided).
