Job summary

VEG is hiring an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to work in our fast-paced, pet-focused ER team. You will support the doctors and techs from day one, assist with triage, treatments, and monitoring, and help ensure excellent patient care for both animals and their families.

You will learn CPR, gain anesthesia support experience, and grow through guided training pathways while enjoying a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for advancement within VEG's expanding network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients; guide them to care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics (bloodwork, imaging, IV access).
• Work with credentialed techs and veterinarians on anesthesia and sedation.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and meds.
• Assist during care in outpatient or inpatient settings; from exam room to treatment area.
• Join rounds and monitor clinical picture for continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER Certification (training provided).
• Grow into advanced roles such as anesthesia support, ultrasound, catheterization.
