Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is hiring an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support teams in a high-pace ER setting. From triage to treatment, you’ll help pet parents and patients every step of the way.

You will learn anesthesia support, ultrasound, and catheterization through guided training, with opportunities to advance into credentialed technician pathways as you grow with VEG.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR software understanding.
• Excellent communication with pet parents and team.
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and equipment.
• Ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 25 kg (40 kg with assistance).
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays in rotation.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work alongside credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and meds.
• Assist during outpatient or inpatient care from exam room to treatment area.
• Join patient rounds to maintain continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER Certified Rescuer training (provided).
• Grow into advanced roles like anesthesia support through training pathways.
