Job summary

VEG ER for Pets is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant who will be at the heart of the action, supporting the team, comforting pet parents, and learning the ropes in real time. You will be involved in triage, treatments, and the overall care process from day one.

You'll work with credentialed technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia, manage IV fluids, and assist during outpatient or inpatient care, with growth pathways and mentorship offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or enrolled in AVMA-accredited program a plus.
• Basic computer skills and EMR/practice software familiarity.
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 kg alone; up to 40 kg with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients; guide them to care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Support anesthesia and sedation setup with clinicians.
• Manage IV fluids, transfusions, and med administration.
• Participate in patient rounds and maintain continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER certification training (provided).
• Pursue advanced responsibilities through guided training pathways.
