Job summary

VEG is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to be in the heart of the action from day one, supporting the team, comforting pet parents, and learning in real time. You'll handle triage, treatments, and care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

You'll work with credentialed technicians and veterinarians, gain CPR training, and pursue advanced responsibilities through guided paths, with opportunities for growth within VEG's fast-paced ER environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR knowledge.
• Excellent communicator with pet families and team.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome, triage incoming patients and guide them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, from bloodwork to imaging and sedation.
• Work with credentialed technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood products, and medication administration.
• Assist during every moment of care, inpatient or outpatient, from exam room to treatment area.
• Learn CPR and pursue RECOVER certification through training.
