Job summary

UCLA Health Santa Monica is hiring an Emergency Trauma Tech to provide evidence-based care in a fast-paced academic ED. You will support nursing staff, assist with procedures, and help manage orthopedic injuries and splints in trauma and emergency situations.

You will perform basic patient care, collect specimens, run EKGs, and monitor patients under supervision while upholding infection control practices. This role offers meaningful hands-on experience in a Magnet-designated health system with

Qualifications

• Prior ED Tech or EMT experience - highly desired
• BLS certification - Required
• Knowledge of suturing and suture removal, dressing application, and splinting
• Skill in CPR and EKG's
• Skill in preparing wounds for treatment, set up and assisting with special procedures such as incision and drainage of infected areas
• Ability to assist nursing staff with routine patient care
• Ability to perform as a team member and provide professional staff support to physicians and nurses
• Ability to function effectively with patients
• Ability to lift, push, pull

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based care in an academic ED setting to patients of all ages with complex medical conditions
• Assist in set up of equipment for procedures and provide direct patient care in trauma/emergency situations
• Assist nurses in transporting patients and aiding with ADLs
• Collect specimens and perform EKGs and finger-stick blood sugar checks
