Job summary

John Knox Village seeks a dispatcher to coordinate resident transportation, emergency responses, and communications for residents and staff. You will operate paging and alert systems, answer calls, and coordinate with safety agencies in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• EMD certification preferred.
• Prior dispatch experience preferred.
• Beginner level Microsoft Office knowledge (Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook) required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, handbooks and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and algebra.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to work under stress and maintain conduct.
• May interact with individuals with challenged mental capacities.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch Drivers for John Knox Village resident transportation.
• Dispatch Public Safety Officers and Ambulances for emergency needs.
• Answer incoming phone calls to serve residents and associates.
• Monitor Simplex system, security monitors, paging systems and 2-way radios, and alert systems; follow emergency call procedures.
• Know the Village area and greater Kansas City metro.
• Demonstrate spatial and motor coordination, perception, and dexterity.
• Lead with organization, multi-task, and prioritize information.
• Maintain precision, problem solving, initiative and patience.
• Communicate with other agencies as needed.
• Be subject to mandatory recall at EOC discretion.
• Provide excellent customer service and listening skills.
• Withstand phone and alarm noises.
• Comply with safety regulations and workplace conduct.
• Handle stress well and get along with others.
