Job summary

Priority Ambulance in Newport, TN is seeking an Entry Level Dispatcher to manage unit deployment and tracking per the local System Status Management Plan. You will broadcast orders to crews for runs and emergencies and operate radio, phone, and computer systems to relay information.

You will take caller information under Emergency Medical Dispatch protocol, determine run types, dispatch appropriately, and record all pertinent details in dispatch logs.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility.
• Currently licensed, certified or registered by the appropriate state agencies.
• Currently certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch (MPDS or equivalent).
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and good judgment.
• Capable of performing in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Able to multitask without error while managing multiple activities.
• Strong reading of maps and spatial orientation.
• Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.
• Professional and constructive interaction with employees, public safety personnel and medical staff.
• Prefer EMT certification.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Dispatch Supervisor, a Dispatcher will be responsible for the deployment and tracking and movement of units on an ongoing basis throughout the day per local System Status Management Plan. They will broadcast orders to crews regarding runs, emergencies and general information.

Dispatchers will operate radio, telephone, or computer equipment relay information or orders to proper individuals or members of management.

In addition, the dispatcher, under Emergency Medical Dispatch protocol, will be required to take caller information, determine the nature of the run request, dispatch runs (emergent and non-emergent) to the crews in an appropriate and timely manner, and record pertinent information.

Reports To:

Dispatch Supervisor or Communications Director as appropriate for all operational activities.
