Job summary

The Salvation Army seeks a Shelter Relief Manager to oversee daily operations at Cornerstone House Emergency Shelter, ensuring resident safety and property maintenance. You will open/close the shelter, supervise overnight shifts, enforce protocols, and coordinate with the Business Manager and Caseworker to respond to emergencies.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or higher, strong organizational skills, and First Aid Certification.

Qualifications

• Organizational skills are required.
• Ability to interact with residents at point of need.
• First Aid Certification is required.
• Must understand and support The Salvation Army mission.

Responsibilities

• Open & Close Cornerstone House shelter at assigned hours and follow procedures.
• Remain on-site for entire shift; regular hours 6:00 pm–8:30 am; sleep time midnight–7:00 am; on-call for emergencies.
• Enforce COVID-related protocols.
• Keep facility clean and sanitary; oversee residents to ensure duties are performed.
• Communicate with Business Manager, Caseworker, and Corps Officer; notify of special situations.
• Notify Business Manager of repairs, supplies, and daily operation items.
• Work with Caseworker to stay informed of resident activities and room availability.
• Uphold Regulations and Standards; communicate rules to residents; report violations.
• Conduct monthly fire drills as scheduled.
• Be available to cover shifts on holidays and during inclement weather.
• Uphold The Salvation Army mission and ministry.
• Other duties as assigned.
