Job summary

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Nursing Director – Emergency Services for a direct-hire role at a 59-bed acute care hospital in Joshua Tree, CA. The Nursing Director will provide clinical, operational, and strategic leadership for a 24/7 Emergency Department, ensuring quality patient care and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has ED nurse manager or director-level experience, at least 7 years in emergency nursing, and a strong track record in staff development,

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of RN experience in an Emergency Department.
• Must have ED Nurse Manager or Director experience.
• Active California RN license.
• ADN or higher required.
• MICN, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications.
• Strong leadership and budgeting experience.
• Ability to provide direct patient care when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and operational oversight for the Emergency Department.
• Maintain 24/7 leadership accountability for ED operations, staffing, and patient care standards.
• Direct daily departmental workflows, staffing, patient care coordination, and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with the CNO/COO and hospital leadership to align departmental operations with organizational goals.
• Establish and enforce departmental policies, procedures, performance standards, and objectives.
• Ensure effective communication among ED staff, physicians, leadership, and other departments.
• Monitor performance and implement process improvements for efficiency and quality.
• Provide direct clinical support on the floor as required.
