Job summary

UChicago Medicine's Adult Emergency Department in Hyde Park is seeking an Emergency Room Technician to support RNs in delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced setting.

This 100% onsite role requires a high school diploma and an applicable credential such as CNA with phlebotomy, EMT-B/EMT-P, or MA with phlebotomy.

You will transport patients, assist with EKGs and POC testing, keep supplies stocked, and prepare rooms for new patients while complying with all safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• C.N.A with phlebotomy or EKG experience, or MA with phlebotomy or EKG experience, or EMT-B/EMT-P.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through The American Heart Association.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform a variety of patient assistance under supervision.
• Ability to interact effectively with patients, clinical staff, and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Transporting patients throughout hospital as needed.
• Keeping supplies and linen at par levels in assigned areas.
• Performing and maintaining POC testing and EKG, which includes QC and transmitting of data.
• Assisting RN’s with patient care as needed and/or requested, within limits of the law and/or policy.
• Sitting with medically/psychologically compromised patients.
• Maintaining a clean work environment by preparing ED rooms for the next patient when necessary.
• Performs other duties assigned.
