Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to support patient care in a fast-paced ED environment. The role involves collecting data under RN/MD supervision, assisting with basic care, and executing procedures within the scope of practice.

Qualified candidates will hold a current EMT license, have a high school diploma, and possess BLS certification. Preferred ACLS/PALS may enhance candidacy.

Qualifications

• Current EMT license without restrictions or EMT-B within at least one year relative experience in a similar capacity.
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• CERT Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Collect pertinent data and report clinical findings to RN and physicians.
• Assist patients with basic care needs and other duties following nursing policies and procedures.
• Prioritize patient care activities based on patient needs and unit activity under supervision of shift leadership.
• Administer treatments and procedures within certification scope as ordered by physician and directed by nursing staff.
• Support OB/GYN care, assist physician during exams, and manage routine wound care and sterile technique.

Education

EMT certification or license (EMT-B or EMT-P)
