Qualifications

Job description

The Emergency Room Technician provides direct, basic patient care activities under the guidance and direction of a Registered or Practical LPN Nurse. Handles the care and cleaning of specific equipment, stocking of supplies and equipment. ER Tech assists with transportation of patients, supplies, and equipment.

Essential Functions

1. Accountable for collection of test specimens as directed according to established procedures and documents.
2. Performs phlebotomy, EKGs, splinting, transport, wound care, simple dressing, and other duties as required within the Emergency Room.
3. Assists customers in a friendly, prompt, caring manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect.
4. Works as part of the care team to meet customer needs and support team objectives, assisting other team members when necessary.
5. Complies with HIPAA regulations at all times.
6. Supports and promotes an environment conducive to quality customer service.
7. Responds to emergency situations according to hospital policy.
8. Practices flexibility by assuming the role of administrative assistant when needed.
9. Properly documents all procedures as required and without error.
10. Assists nurses with patient treatments.
11. Performs daily duties such as vital signs, patient turns, AM care, PM care, charting, and other tasks as requested.

Minimum Education/Certifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent. One year of experience required.
• Certifications: ERT Certification preferred.
• BLS-CPR required.
• EKG Certification preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

One year of experience preferred.

Willingness to work holidays, weekends, and provide additional coverage as needed.
