Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking an Emergency Room Technical Assistant to join our Emergency Department in Plymouth, MI. This full-time role supports nurses and providers in delivering urgent care, welcomes teamwork, and ensures readiness of ER rooms and equipment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, BCLS certification, and prior ED tech or medical assistant experience. Orientation and ongoing training are provided to maintain high standards of care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• BCLS certification required.
• Previous Emergency Department Technician or Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist RNs and Providers with assessments, examinations and treatments.
• Draw blood and collect specimens; perform EKGs.
• Apply splints/immobilizers as directed.
• Take vital signs for adults and pediatric patients.
• Insert nasogastric (NG) tubes as needed.
• Perform urethral catheterization in adults.
• Discontinue peripheral IVs and start IVs as directed.
• Document patient care and maintain room/ER equipment.
• Assist with maintaining stock and cleanliness of the ER area.
