Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare West is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department to deliver patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

The RN will coordinate with physicians and care teams to assess pain, perform procedures, document care, and educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and follow-ups. Emphasis on safety, quality outcomes, and compassionate care for diverse patients in Houston, TX.

Qualifications

• Must hold active RN license and meet state requirements.
• ACLS and BLS certifications must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Stroke scale and trauma nursing certifications are preferred.
• Associate degree or higher in nursing is required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain and promote effective pain management, including reassessments after interventions.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other orders and document care in the medical record promptly.
• Respond to patient requests promptly and anticipate needs to provide exceptional care.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, status, treatment plans, medications and possible side effects; translate medical terms as needed.
• Guide patients and families on non-medical follow-up measures such as diet, exercise, and self-management.
