Qualifications

Position Summary:

Provides patient care using the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural needs of patients and families. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team about patient conditions and responses to treatment.

Reports to:

Director of Emergency Services

Responsibilities:
  • Performs head-to-toe assessments and reassessments according to policy.
  • Assesses and manages pain, educating patients and families.
  • Provides age-specific patient care, demonstrating knowledge of medication administration based on patient age and condition.
  • Follows the 6 rights of medication administration to prevent errors.
  • Develops and revises care and educational plans based on patient diagnosis and symptoms.
  • Assists physicians with procedures and performs technical skills.
  • Performs treatments within licensure scope, ensuring safety and accuracy.
  • Coordinates and supervises patient care, maintaining documentation standards.
  • Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial and cultural needs.
  • Communicates clearly with the healthcare team and reports changes promptly.
  • Maintains equipment safely and educates patients on disease management.
  • Adheres to evidence-based practices and utilizes resources efficiently.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in nursing required.
  • Current North Carolina or compact RN license required.
  • BLS certification required within 30 days; ACLS and PALS within 6 months.
  • Handle with Care (HWC) certification within 6 months.
Skills and Experience:
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently.
  • Experience in healthcare preferred, minimum 1 year.
