Position Summary

Provides direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Addresses the physical, psychosocial, religious, cultural needs of patients and families. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team about patient condition or response to treatment.

Responsibilities

1. Performs head-to-toe assessments and reassessments as per policy.
2. Manages pain assessment and education, utilizing appropriate techniques.
3. Provides age-specific patient care and demonstrates knowledge of medication administration.
4. Follows the 6 rights of medication administration.
5. Develops, implements, and revises care and educational plans based on diagnosis and symptoms.
6. Assists physicians with procedures and performs technical services within licensure.
7. Ensures patient safety, documentation, and respectful treatment.
8. Communicates changes in patient status promptly and effectively.
9. Operates equipment safely and educates patients and families about disease processes.
10. Utilizes resources efficiently and adheres to evidence-based practices.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in nursing required.
• Current North Carolina or compact state RN license required.
• BLS certification required within 30 days; ACLS and PALS within 6 months.
• Handle with Care certification within 6 months.

Skills and Experience

• Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently.
• Stress management skills.
• Preferred: 1 year healthcare experience.
