Position Summary:
Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural, and needs of the patient and family. Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team about changes in the patient's condition or response to treatment.
Responsibilities of the Position:
- Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy.
- Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and educating patients and families.
- Performs patient care considering needs specific to the patient's age.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and condition.
- Follows the 6 rights of medication administration to reduce errors.
- Formulates, implements, and revises the patient's plan of care and educational plan.
- Assists physicians with procedures and performs technical services within licensure.
- Ensures all patient care is delivered in a safe environment, coordinating and supervising as needed.
- Maintains documentation standards and policies.
- Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with the healthcare team.
- Notifies physicians of changes in patient condition promptly.
- Operates equipment safely and correctly.
- Educates patients and families on disease processes.
- Follows evidence-based practices and utilizes resources efficiently.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: Associates degree in nursing.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current North Carolina or compact RN license, BLS within 30 days, ACLS and PALS within 6 months, Handle with Care within 6 months.
- Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, stress management.
- Experience: 1 year in healthcare preferred.
