Position Summary:

Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural, and needs of the patient and family. Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team about changes in the patient's condition or response to treatment.

Responsibilities of the Position:

• Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy.
• Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and educating patients and families.
• Performs patient care considering needs specific to the patient's age.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and condition.
• Follows the 6 rights of medication administration to reduce errors.
• Formulates, implements, and revises the patient's plan of care and educational plan.
• Assists physicians with procedures and performs technical services within licensure.
• Ensures all patient care is delivered in a safe environment, coordinating and supervising as needed.
• Maintains documentation standards and policies.
• Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
• Communicates clearly and professionally with the healthcare team.
• Notifies physicians of changes in patient condition promptly.
• Operates equipment safely and correctly.
• Educates patients and families on disease processes.
• Follows evidence-based practices and utilizes resources efficiently.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Education: Associates degree in nursing.
• Licenses/Certifications: Current North Carolina or compact RN license, BLS within 30 days, ACLS and PALS within 6 months, Handle with Care within 6 months.
• Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, stress management.
• Experience: 1 year in healthcare preferred.
