Job summary

Insurcomm Restoration in Virginia Beach/Norfolk, VA, is seeking a Mitigation Technician to respond to emergencies and stabilize properties affected by fire, water, mold, and storms. You will work on site, perform water extraction, drying, and material removal, and coordinate with the Contents Division to safeguard salvageable items.

Qualifications

• Willingness to obtain IICRC certification.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
• Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong social awareness and customer service mindset.
• Acceptable driving record.
• Ability to navigate Microsoft Teams and complete onsite documentation using a smartphone and industry software.
• Team-oriented mindset with a positive, solution-focused attitude.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency mitigation calls and assess property damage caused by fire, water, mold, and weather-related events.
• Perform water extraction, structural drying, and mitigation services in accordance with IICRC standards.
• Remove and dispose of damaged building materials safely and efficiently.
• Decontaminate, clean, and deodorize affected interior spaces.
• Collaborate with the Contents Division to clean, pack, and store salvageable items.
• Document job progress through photos and detailed notes using PSA and other required software.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, answering questions with empathy and respect.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times.
• Properly set up, operate, clean, and store tools and equipment.
• Follow warehouse and vehicle protocols, including daily documentation of consumables and equipment use.
• Work effectively and collaboratively with project managers, crew chiefs, and team members.
