Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking an Emergency Response Coordinator in Port St. Lucie, FL to act as the first point of contact for natural gas and electric emergencies, assess situations, and coordinate response with internal teams and external agencies.

The role requires strong communication, calm decision-making under pressure, and documentation of incidents and reports for regulatory compliance. Occasional after-hours support and weather-related duties are included.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of utility operations and emergency response procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for customers, field personnel, and agencies.
• Ability to stay calm and make timely decisions in emergencies.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and prioritization under pressure.
• Attention to detail in documenting incidents and preparing reports.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar dispatching/operational platforms and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for natural gas and electric emergencies, gather incident details and provide safety instructions.
• Coordinate response by notifying internal teams, dispatching work, and engaging external agencies as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of calls and actions; prepare incident reports for reviews and compliance.
• Conduct customer follow-ups to confirm resolution and assist further.
• Support emergency preparedness through drills, training, and process improvements.
