Job summary

Phoenix Children's seeks a Psychiatric Emergency Dept Tech in Avondale to provide age-appropriate supervision, support and crisis management in collaboration with the care team. The role involves direct patient care under a Clinical Nurse, contributing to the care plan and ensuring safety and therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities include data collection, 1:1 patient supervision, basic clinical tasks, crisis response and family education, with shifts that vary between days and nights.

Responsibilities

• Collects and records routine patient data including vital signs to ensure accuracy of patient chart.
• Assists in applying splints, casts and other orthopedic devices; performs CPR during cardiac arrest management.
• Identifies and reports unusual findings or observations to healthcare professionals for timely intervention.
• Obtains blood specimens by physician order or per protocol and delivers lab specimens as requested.
• Maintains unit environment with inventory of stock items, supplies and equipment.
• Provides continuous therapeutic care and observation to patients during meals, school sessions, social and education groups and activities of daily living.
• Responds to crisis situations with safety and therapeutic measures and implements behavior management protocols.
• Education of parents regarding behavioral techniques and daily living safety.
• Serves as a 1:1 sitter for patients needing supervision for medical or behavioral reasons.
• Creates a safe, therapeutic environment and participates in care rounds and orientation of patients and families.
• Performs miscellaneous job duties as requested.
