Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Protective Services Dispatcher at St. Rita’s Medical Center to manage emergency and non-emergency communications, coordinate with field units, and operate a multi-channel radio system.

The role requires strong typing, clear documentation, and proficiency with radios and dispatch consoles. A high school diploma or GED is required, with 1-2 years of security/dispatch experience preferred, in a 24/7 healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of experience in security and/or telephone operations/dispatch preferred.
• Ability to accurately type 35-40 wpm.
• Strong documentation skills under pressure.
• Ability to operate multi-line telephone systems including taking and prioritizing emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Proficient in using two-way radios and dispatch consoles and enter data as appropriate.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive, coordinate, and disseminate critical information from various sources including emergency and non-emergency calls for service; maintain radio contact with field units.
• Determine nature and location of emergency, prioritize, dispatch emergency personnel, and monitor alarms.
• Monitor and respond to emergency codes and alarm systems per hospital protocols.
• Document and maintain logs of units dispatched with times and locations; provide information to outside agencies as appropriate.
• Process employees and others through the photo badging system; be familiar with resources to callers.
• Answer and direct incoming calls using a multi-line system with courteous communications.
