Job summary

SEPTA is seeking an Emergency Preparedness Specialist to support the Director of Emergency Management in designing, developing, conducting, and evaluating training and exercise programs for organizational readiness. You will lead the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program activities and coordinate with SEPTA departments, contractors, and regional partners to strengthen preparedness.

The role requires extensive knowledge of emergency management, adult learning, and incident management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; five (5) years’ experience in Emergency Management.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience in operations in the Public Transportation Industry preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficient PC skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages SEPTA's Training and Exercise Program with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plans, facilitates, and evaluates high-quality exercises using HSEEP principles.
  • Coordinates post-exercise reviews and action plans to improve readiness.
  • Monitors federal, state, and local guidance to enhance the program.
  • Represents Emergency Management on regional committees and forums.
  • Maintains training records and prepares leadership reports.
  • Assesses program effectiveness and recommends improvements.
