Job summary

Commerce City seeks an Emergency Management Specialist to support the Emergency Manager in coordinating emergency management plans, leading public outreach, managing volunteer programs, and ensuring the city is prepared for any situation.

Under the general direction of the Emergency Manager, this role requires strong skills in technology familiarity, emergency management, EOC systems, organizational administration, and public speaking.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 60 college credits in Emergency Management, Incident Management, or Homeland Security.
• Minimum of 1 year experience assisting with organizing emergency and non-emergency events.
• Acceptable background information and Colorado driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Emergency Manager, including research projects, memos, and special assignments.
• Coordinate emergency management and public safety operation plans with stakeholders.
• Support emergency response incidents and coordinate city responses; follow up with after-action reports.
• Represent the Emergency Manager and maintain agency relations.
• Develop, write, and edit reports and routine correspondence; maintain the EMS web page.
