Job summary

Klickitat County seeks an experienced manager to lead its Emergency Management Programs within the Department of Public Works. You will supervise planning, preparedness, and recovery activities, ensuring compliant policies and readiness of the Emergency Operations Center across county operations.

The role involves coordinating grant funding, training, public outreach, and inter-agency collaboration with federal, state, and local partners. On-call duties are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in emergency management, law enforcement, fire protection, medical service, or related emergency response; supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily activities of the county's emergency management program and ensure EOC readiness.
• Develop, implement, and monitor emergency management goals, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate grant applications, management, and reporting; manage budgets and contracts.
• Lead training, drills, and exercises with partner agencies; maintain liaison with stakeholders.
• Represent the department in meetings, briefings, and public presentations; manage public information efforts.
