Job summary

County of Los Angeles Department of Mental Health seeks an Emergency Patient Financial Services Worker to assist patients with Medi-Cal and other programs. The role involves interviewing patients or relatives, collecting eligibility data, and entering information into LEADER and other systems.

Under an emergency order, initial employment may be up to 90 days with potential for permanent appointment. Strong communication and financial assessment skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university.
• One (1) year of experience interviewing the public regarding financial assistance, credits, insurance, or hospital services.
• Two (2) years of experience as a Patient Resources Worker interviewing patients or relatives to determine financial resources.
• One (1) year of experience in supervising Patient Resources Workers.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients or relatives to collect financial eligibility data and assist with Medi-Cal and other programs.
• Enter patient information into LEADER and other systems.
• Explain program provisions to plan patient benefits and eligibility for multiple healthcare programs.
• Identify patient financial resources and arrange payments or plans when needed.
