Job summary

VCU Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to provide direct, age‑appropriate care under the supervision of the RN. You will support patients in assigned units, monitor conditions, and communicate updates to the health care team. This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, and Certification such as CNA, EMT, or BLS/HCP.

Prior healthcare experience is preferred. You will participate in mandatory trainings and uphold patient safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent required.
• Certification/completion of CNA, Medical Assistant, EMT, Military Corpsmen/Medic or Nursing Aide Training Program.
• Experience within a healthcare environment preferred; completion of foundations/clinical nursing course acceptable.
• AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, direct care to patients and monitor conditions.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow plans of care.
• Record admissions data, vitals, intake/output, and other patient information.
• Attend mandatory trainings and uphold patient safety initiatives.
• Establish rapport with patients and collaborate with the health care team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
