Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Patient Care Technician to deliver age-appropriate, direct patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. You will monitor patient conditions, assist with daily care activities, and help maintain a safe and clean care environment on the unit.

The role requires a High School degree; Certified Nursing Assistant preferred, plus BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (preferred).
• AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, direct care to patients in assigned unit with age-appropriate adjustments.
• Monitor patients’ conditions and provide updates to the health care team.
• Maintain a safe, clean, stocked environment to support patient needs and unit operations.
• Record initial and ongoing patient information, including vital signs, intake/output, and other data per policy.
• Assist with specimen collection for diagnostic tests as needed.
• Attend mandatory trainings and adhere to training requirements.
