Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct, age-appropriate care on the progressive care unit. You will monitor patient conditions, collect vital signs, and assist with feeding, hygiene, mobility, and safety under RN supervision.

Qualifications include a High School degree or equivalent and CNA/MA/EMT or Nursing Aide certifications; BLS certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent required.
• Certification/Completion of one of the listed nursing aide credentials.
• Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, direct patient care with age-appropriate adjustments.
• Monitor patients and report updates to the health care team.
• Maintain a safe, clean, stocked unit environment.
• Obtain and record patient information (vital signs, intake/output).
• Assist in specimen collection as needed.
• Attend mandatory trainings and in-services.
• Support patient safety initiatives and teamwork.
• Demonstrate rapport with patients, visitors and co-workers.
