Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health in Richmond, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Adult Emergency Department (PRN/Part-time). You will provide direct, age-specific care under RN supervision and support the health care team with monitoring, hygiene, mobility, and comfort.

The role requires completion of one of several approved nursing-related programs or a high school diploma, BLS certification, and a commitment to safe, respectful care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of patient data collection and documentation (i.e. vital signs, intake/output, change in patient condition).
• Knowledge of basic hygiene and activities of daily living care.
• Ability to assist with feeding, hydration, and nutrition.
• Ability to assist with ambulation and patient mobility.
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate care.
• Accountability for completion of assigned tasks.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-appropriate care to patients under RN direction.
• Monitor patients’ conditions and report updates to the health care team.
• Maintain safe, clean, stocked environment to support care.
• Attend mandatory trainings and adhere to hospital policies.
• Establish rapport with patients and families while ensuring safety.
