Overnight and weekend shifts may be required as part of continuous operations. Qualifications include a high school diploma, and EMS/EMD certification guidance; CPR is often required and additional coursework may be necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; sponsored training may be available.
• Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification may be required before appointment.
• CPR certification may be required; EMT/paramedic credentials are not universal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm patient location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about patient condition.
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
