Job summary

County Emergency Communications in Erhard, MN seeks an Emergency Medical Dispatcher to handle urgent medical calls, confirm locations, and coordinate ambulance resources. You will follow approved dispatch protocols, provide guidance to responders, and document calls for quality review.

Required are a high school diploma or equivalent and an EMS dispatcher certification; CPR certification may be required. Training or sponsorship for certification may be available, with overtime and rotating

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification required before appointment or sponsor training may be offered.
• CPR certification may be required; EMT or paramedic credentials are not universal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities
