Job summary

The University of Kentucky Police Department is seeking an Emergency Management (EM) Specialist to develop and maintain emergency plans and programs ensuring UK HealthCare compliance with regulatory standards. You will coordinate planning efforts and maintain emergency communication protocols, and participate in on-call rotations to support HICC operations.

• Experience with National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) and Incident Command Structure (ICS)
• Ability to create training plans and conduct training exercises
• Experience in emergency management planning and program development

Job Summary

The University of Kentucky Police Department is seeking an Emergency Management (EM) Specialist to join the team. The Emergency Management (EM) Specialist develops and maintains emergency plans and programs to ensure UK HealthCare's compliance with applicable regulatory standards. Key duties include:

• coordinating planning efforts
• maintaining emergency communication protocols.

The role also participates in on-call rotations, assists with HealthCare Incident Command Center ( HICC ) operations, and engages in ongoing professional development. This position reports to the Emergency Management Director of Operations and may serve across the UK HealthCare Emergency Management Division as needed.

Physical Requirements

Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs., sitting for extended periods of time; including sitting at computer workstation. Occasional risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job, loud noises, temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, burns, cuts/punctures, combative/violent people, and animal handling (including carcasses).

This position will require candidates to take a polygraph examination as part of the University Police Department's employment process.
