Job summary

Will County Executive in Joliet, IL is seeking an Emergency Management Operations Specialist to oversee readiness, maintenance, and deployment of agency vehicles, equipment, and the Emergency Management Response Facility.

The role requires strong coordination for FEMA reporting, duty officer operations, FOIA records, and reliability of alert systems, with a path toward professional certifications and advanced licenses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Logistics, Facility Management, or related field.
• Three or more years of experience in emergency management, public safety operations, logistics, fleet or facility management.
• Experience supporting emergency response operations, training, or exercises preferred.
• Completion of FEMA PDS within one year of assignment.
• IPEM certification preferred or obtained within five years.
• A valid Illinois Class D driver’s license; higher license class or endorsements as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure readiness, accountability, maintenance, and deployment support of agency vehicles, trailers, apparatus, and equipment.
• Maintain resource and deployment records for FEMA reporting and reimbursement.
• Administer the Duty Officer program.
• Coordinate incident-report completion and FOIA responsive records.
• Test and maintain the agency’s alert and warning systems.
