Job summary

Chatham County, NC seeks an Emergency Management professional to plan preparedness, response, mitigation and recovery for disasters. You will coordinate with local first responders, municipalities, state and federal partners, and community groups to strengthen disaster resilience.

You will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Emergency Operations Plan, review past responses for improvements, manage grants, and train agencies on homeland security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management or related field with 2 years' experience.
• Associate’s degree with 4 years' emergency management experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience allowed.

Responsibilities

• Develop plans for preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery to disasters.
• Effectively develops and maintains partnerships with local first responder agencies, municipalities, state and federal partners, NGOs, and community groups.
• Provides day-to-day and detailed work in planning, implementing, and evaluating the emergency management plan.
