Job summary

Cumberland County is seeking an Emergency Management professional to strengthen our county's preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities. You will lead emergency planning efforts, coordinate training programs and disaster exercises, and assist with grant development and administration.

You will also support incident response during natural or man-made events and collaborate with local, state, and federal partners to protect lives and property in Cumberland County, NC.

Qualifications

• Requires a four-year degree and two years of related experience in emergency services planning/response.
• ICS courses 100, 200, 700, and 800 must be completed by time of hire.
• Preferred certifications as instructor or NC EM Coordinator; HAZMAT/HAZMAT levels desired.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and implement the Emergency Operations Plan for responses to disasters.
• Coordinate EOC activities during activations and maintain readiness.
• Assist in developing response plans, SOPs, and MOUs/COOPs.
• Coordinate Hazard Incident Management Team activities with partners.
• Maintain emergency management resources, contracts, and databases.
• Monitor NIMS compliance and support THIRA activities.
• Respond to incidents and assist with interagency coordination and reporting.
• Collaborate with NWS, utilities, schools, and community organizations.
• Plan and document emergency preparedness trainings and drills per HSEEP.
