Job summary

City of Rowlett seeks an Emergency Management Coordinator to organize and advance the city’s emergency planning, training, and response programs. You will maintain the EOP, coordinate with departments and external partners, and oversee grants and budgets to strengthen public safety.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in emergency management or related field and several years of experience, with NFIP/NIMS certification preferred; FEMA training and disaster response experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or closely related field and five years of professional emergency management coordination experience.
• Experience providing executive-level response and recovery coordination support for at least one Presidentially declared disaster or multiple State level declared disasters.
• IC 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800 certifications.
• Master’s degree preferred; ability to instruct multiple NIMS level classes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the City’s comprehensive emergency management program.
• Maintain the Emergency Operations Plan to conform to laws.
• Develop and conduct annual training and exercises.
• Prepare and manage grants and the department budget.
• Assist with special events requiring EOC activation and incident command.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or closely related field

Five years of professional emergency management coordination experience

Executive-level response and recovery coordination experience

NIMS certifications (IC-100, IC-200, IC-300, IC-400, IC-700, IC-800)

Public speaking / presentations

Grant writing / management

Budgeting knowledge
