Job summary

City of Indianapolis & Marion County seeks an Emergency Management professional to support the development and maintenance of preparedness plans and incident response operations. The role requires knowledge of NIMS, strong analytical skills, and the ability to coordinate with multiple agencies.

Responsibilities include grant writing, EOC support, and ongoing monitoring of emergency activities. The position may require irregular hours during incidents, with a focus on readiness and community

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Fire Science, Public Safety Management, or equivalent or a minimum of two (2) years of public safety-related experience.
• Knowledge of Emergency Management and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
• Must have and maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License and be able to operate 4WD SUVs and tow trailers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing and maintaining federal, state, and local requirements to carry out an effective emergency management program.
• Assist with grant program management and grant writing.
• Respond to event/incident scenes or the EOC to assist with support and coordination of emergency management functions.
• Assist the EOC Manager with staffing, reports, resources, and technology systems during EOC activations.
• Maintain readiness by monitoring emergency activities in Marion County/City of Indianapolis.
