Job summary

Johnston County is seeking an Emergency Management professional to provide technical support for all phases of emergency management and to respond to disaster situations. The role includes developing and maintaining operational plans, assisting with SARA Title III programs, and delivering public education to residents and organizations.

The position requires decision-making, sound judgement, and the ability to lead training and exercises.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Fire Science, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field.
• Two years experience in emergency services.
• Or equivalent education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform emergency management response functions in hazardous materials incidents, and natural and man made disasters.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure readiness of emergency equipment and trailers.
• Maintain specialized equipment and emergency supplies to ensure immediate activation and deployment capability.
• Deliver training and preparedness programs to strengthen community preparedness.
• Conduct and evaluate emergency preparedness training, drills, and exercises.
• Prepare after action reports and assist with corrective actions.
