Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development is seeking a Construction Project Manager (34202) to oversee field inspections, lead abatement, and emergency repair projects across New York City. You will manage scopes of work, cost estimates, and contractor performance to ensure HUD and HPD standards are met.

The role requires a four-year high school diploma with five years of relevant experience, or a degree with related experience, or an appropriate professional license.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent with five years of full-time satisfactory experience managing construction projects with total cost at least $300,000
• One year of the experience described above with a baccalaureate degree in engineering/architecture/construction management or related field
• One year of experience with a valid professional engineer or architect license, or similar credentials

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, directing and monitoring work related to HUD grants and emergency repairs
• Ensure abatement methods comply with laws and HUD guidelines
• Monitor contract performance and resolve issues
• Prepare field reports, scopes of work and cost estimates
• Perform dust wipes sampling per HUD and agency protocols
• Review contractor requisitions and change orders
• Perform hazardous materials assessment using XRF
• Ensure permits are obtained and contractor performance is monitored
• Enter data into HPDInfo per guidelines
• Perform Lead Inspection Risk Assessment and Healthy Homes inspections
