Job summary

City of Appleton Fire Department seeks a dedicated firefighter to respond to fires and emergencies as part of an engine or truck company. You will perform ventilation, salvage, overhaul, forcible entry, and rescue operations while maintaining equipment and records.

Ideal candidates have 60+ college credits by hire, knowledge of firefighting techniques and gear, EMT/Firefighter I preferred, and a valid Wisconsin driver’s license. Paramedic licensing is a plus; tobacco use is not allowed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 60 post-secondary credits by hire date.
• Thorough knowledge of firefighting techniques and emergency procedures.
• Knowledge of firefighting equipment and apparatus operation.
• Certifications: EMT Basic and Firefighter I preferred; licensing as paramedic may be required.
• Ability to obtain/maintain Wisconsin driver's license.
• No tobacco usage.
• Ability to work with moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire and emergency calls as engine/truck crew.
• Perform ventilation, salvage, overhaul, and forcible entry tasks.
• Provide first aid/CPR to victims and maintain equipment.
• Participate in training and public education activities.
• Maintain and inspect firefighting apparatus and tools.
