Job summary

Port Washington Fire Department is seeking three Firefighter/Paramedics to join our growing team. You will perform firefighting, emergency medical care, and community risk reduction while ensuring equipment and facilities are ready for 24-hour shifts and ~1,800 calls per year.

Reporting to the shift Captain or Lieutenant, roles include training leadership, program development, and public outreach. Candidates must hold Wisconsin Driver’s License, Firefighter I, EMT-Paramedic, and pursue

Qualifications

• Self-motivated with strong leadership and a willingness to learn.
• Must have Wisconsin Driver’s License, Wisconsin Firefighter I, and EMT-Paramedic certification.
• Certifications (IFSA/NREMT) must be current or obtained within defined timelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform firefighting activities such as containment and extinguishment, hose lines, and driving apparatus.
• Provide advanced emergency medical care and transport as an EMT-Paramedic.
• Create and maintain thorough patient care records in written or digital formats.
• Engage in training on firefighting, EMS, HazMat, and related subjects.
• Participate in building inspections, hydrant checks, and community risk reduction.
• Maintain fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities; perform minor repairs.
