Job summary

Bay Area Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to perform direct patient care under RN or physician supervision in the Emergency Department. The role includes starting IVs, phlebotomy, EKGs, and assisting with procedures and treatments.

Ideal candidates will have BLS, EMT Basic or related certification, a high school diploma, and recent hospital experience. The position is full-time in the Day Shift with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required
• Workplace violence training within 90 days after grace period
• EMT Basic certification or CNA2 or paramedic experience preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

• Promotes positive customer relations with internal and external customers
• Monitors patient vital signs and notifies RN/physician if changes occur
• Start IVs and obtain blood work as directed by ED staff
• Performs phlebotomy tasks as part of routine ED care
• Transports patients to assigned units as appropriate
• Assists patients at discharge from the department and prepares room for next patient
• Keeps the department neat, stocked and properly supplied
• Participates in continuing education and department meetings
• Contributes to performance improvement activities and patient care quality
