Job summary

Ascension in Wichita, KS, is seeking a Ground Transport Dispatcher for the night shift. The position provides 36 hours per week, 6:45pm-7:15am, in the Ground Transport department.

The role involves handling emergency and non-emergency calls, accurate routing, and coordinating ground and air transport as required. Responsibilities include documentation for legal and clinical purposes and follow-up with referring entities to improve access and quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma equivalency or 1 year of relevant experience required.
• Note: Licensure/certification can substitute education or experience where applicable.
• EMS/911 dispatch experience preferred.

• Route calls accurately and promptly; ensure proper dispatch of units.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio calls for medical assistance.
• Respond to calls in a time-sensitive manner. Ensure appropriate and accurate routing of calls.
• Dispatch emergency units and coordinate air medical flights as appropriate and per established algorithms.
• Maintain documentation of calls and physician/service referrals for legal, medical and statistical purposes.
• Follow up with referring entities for ease of access, marketing, evaluation, and quality improvement.

Education

What minimum requirements you’ll need

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

• Prior experience in emergency medical services (EMS) or 911 emergency dispatch.
